 1.  Dhola-Sadiya Bridge || Bhupen hazarika Bridge

Dhola- Sadiya bridge is The Longest Bridge in India Over Waterway. This bridge is connecting Assam state to Arunachala Pradesh (Connecting Dhola village to Sadiya town), across the Lohit river. Lohit river is the major attribute of the Bramhaputra river. This bridge is also known as Bhupen Hazarika Bridge. Dr. Bhupen Hazarika was a famous Indian playback singer. He belongs to Assam State. Length of the bridge is 9.15km (span to span) and the overall length is 9.5km (end to end of approach slab. This bridge belongs to Assam State. Dhola-Sadiya can be utilized for military purposes. Recently, there have been raised some disputes along LAC (Line Of Actual Control: India-China border) in Arunachal Pradesh. So, in this critical time, our military can reach LAC areas easily through the Bhupen Hazarika bridge. The surrounding of this bridge is also beautiful and Tourist Attractive. 

Dhola Sadiya Bridge or Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Bridge


 This bridge is PSC (Pre-cast) Segmental Box Girder. The clear carriageway is 10.50m and the overall deck is 12.90m. Each and every span length is 50.00m. Total number of span is 183. This bridge is designed as 3 lanes road bridge. 2 lanes have been provided on road. 1.50m width of paved shoulder and 0.75m safety kerb have been provided on both sides.


 Nowadays, this bridge is playing a vital role to connect North-East India.

2. Dibang River Bridge: 

Dibang River Bridge is the Second Longest Bridge In India over the waterway. This bridge belongs to Arunachal Pradesh, 13.00km away from Roing city.  This bridge is across the Dibang River. Dibang River is a major river system along with its tributaries which flows in this area in as many as 11 channels over combined width of about 10Kms surrounded by forest. The completion of this stretch was a challenging task where topographical complexities of Dibang river system surrounded by dense forest were overcome by completion of this National Highway route and reducing the distance between Roing and Pasighat to just 90 km from 300 Km earlier.
Total length of the bridge is 6.1Km. Dibang River Bridge is a combined bridge with Sukhanal bridge (Length of Sukhanal Bridge is 150m), Passonala River Bridge (Lenght of Passonal River Bridge is 2.15Km) and Deopani River Bridge (Length of Deopani River Bridge is 3.95Km). This bridge is connecting Meka to Bomjir having length of about 17.362 Km, lies in the Dibang valley district of Arunachal Pradesh.

3. Mahatma Gandhi Setu: 

Mahatma Gandhi Setu some time called as Gandi Setu and also Ganga Setu. Gandhi Setu is the Third Longest Bridge In India Over Water way. Length of this bridge is 5.75Km. Gandhi Setu I mean Ganga Setu belongs to Patna, Bihar state. This bridge is connecting Patna to Hajipur. Gandhi Setu was constructed in 1972 to 1982. This bridge was in distressed condition in Articulation zones. The old loading design pattern was not acceptable present day loading pattern. That's why the government has taken decision to replace the super structure. Balance cantilever box Girder is replacing by truss- through members. Super structure replacement of Gandhi Setu is going on till to day.

4. Bandra-Worli Sea Link Bridge:

Bandra-Worli Seal Link Bridge is the Forth Longest Bridge In India Above Waterway.   Officially this bridge is known as Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link Bridge. Bandra-Worli Sea Link Bridge officially known as Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, is The Fourth (4th) Longest Bridge in India after Bhupen Hazarika Setu, Dibang River Bridge and Mahatma Gandhi Setu. This bridge belongs to Mumbai across Mahim bay. Length of this Bridge is 5.60 Km and This Bridge Connects Bandra (Western Suburbs Mumbai) To Worli (In South Mumbai) and reduces time Bandra to Worli from 20-30 minutes to 10 minutes. This bridge is built by Hindustan Construction Compony and The maintenance of this bridge is undertaken by Maharastra State Road Development Corporation. And this Bridge crosses over Mahim Bay.

Structural Detail: Bandra-Worli Sea Link Bridge is a Cable Stayed Bridge with Pre-Stressed Concrete-Steel Viaducts on either side. Bandra-Worli Seal Link Bridge having 8 Lanes, First four lanes were

opened in 30th June 2009 and other 4 lanes were opened in 24th march 2010 And the total Length of this bridge is 5.60km, Which is the fourth longest Bridge in India. The width of this Bridge is 2x20.0, Each four lanes having 20m width. Height of this Bridge is 126.00 m.And the Longest span arrangement of this Bridge is 2x250.00m.


5. Bogibeel Bridge: 

Bogibeel Bridge is the Fifth (5th) longest bridge in India. Bogibeel Bridge is the combined (Road and Rail) Bridge over Brahmaputra River in northeastern Indian state of Assam, connecting Dhimaji district to Dibugarh district. Bogibeel Bridge is the Longest Rail Cum Road Bridge in India having length 4.94 km and the second longest Rail Cum Road bridge in Asia and its serviceable period of around 120 years. Bogibeel Bridge construction starts in 21 st april 2002 and December 2018 constuction was completed. Bogibeel Bridge was inaugurated in 25 December 2018. As Bogibeel Bridge is located in an Eathquack prone area or high seismic zone, So Bogibeel Bridge is the first bridge having fully welded steel concrete support beam that can with stand a magnitude up to 7 on Richter scale count.Structural Detail: Bogibeel Bridge is a truss bridge and materials used in this Bridge are concrete and steel. Bogibeel Bridge has 41 numbers of span and the longest span of Bogibeel Bridge is 125.00 m.


6. Vikramshila Setu

Vikramshila Setu is the Sixth (6th) Longest Bridge in india. Vikramshila Setu is across the Ganges and it is located in Bhagalpur (Bihar state of India). Vikramshila Setu Total Length is 4.70 km and it links NH 33 to NH 31, which are opposite sides of Ganges and also connecting Bhagalpur to
purnia and katihar.Vikramshila setu has reduces the time travel between Bhagalpur and other places across the Ganges.Vikramshila Setu was opened in 2001. 


Structural Detail: Vikrashila Setu is the 2 Lane bridge having length 4.70 km and material used in this bridge is concrete and iron. Vikramshila Setu constructed to provides services for heavy vehicles and four wheelers.


7. Vembanad Bridge:

Vembanad Bridge is the 7th longest bridge in India and Vembanad Bridge is the 2nd longest rail bridge in india after Bogibeel Bridge.The length of Vembanad Bridge is 4.620 km, which is the 7th longest in india. After Vembanad bridge’s disuse period this bridge was relauched in jan 2020 by freight services. Vembanad Bridge’s construction was started in june 2007 and it was completed in 31st march 2010, and built by Rail vikas Nigam LTD. Chennai PIU, A Govt. of India Enterprises. Vembanad Rail Bridge connected Edappalli to vallarpadam in kochi, kerala state of India. 


Structural Detail: Vembanad Bridge was designed as a Beam Bridge, Total length of this Bridge is 4.620km, width of this bridge is 5.00m and height of this bridge is 7.50m. Vembanad Rail Bridge consists 132 number of span.


8. Digha-Sonpur Bridge:

 Digha-Sonpur Bridge also known as J.P. Setu is the Rail cum Road Bridge across river Ganga. Digha-Sonpur Bridge is the Eighth (8th) Longest Bridge in India having length 4.556 Km. Digha-Sonpur Bridge is the second Longest Rail cum Road bridge in India after Bogibeel Bridge. Digha-Sonpur Bridge is connecting Digha Ghat (Patna) and Phaleja Ghat (Sonpur), Saran district (Bihar state of India). Digha-Sonpur Bridge is the second bridge after Rajendra setu which connects North Bihar to South Bihar.


Structural detail: Digha-Sonpur Bridge was designed warren truss and doubled warren truss. The length of Digha-Sonpure Bridge is 4.556m and Width of Digha-Sonpur Bridge is 10.00m. This Bridge consists 36 number of spans.
